This Privacy Policy explains how RUMOR SKI, LLC ("RUMOR," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares personal information when you visit rumor-ski.com (the "Site"), join our waitlist, or otherwise interact with us. We keep this simple: we collect what we need to run the waitlist and plan a great launch, and we don't sell your information for money.

We're not selling skis on the Site yet. When sales open, we'll update this policy to cover orders, payments, and shipping.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us:

  • Waitlist: your email address and the ski size and colorway you're interested in
  • Communications: anything you send us by email, contact form, survey, or social media message
  • Preferences: such as your marketing preferences

Information collected automatically:

When you use the Site, we and our partners automatically collect certain information through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies. This includes your IP address, device and browser type, general location (like city or region), pages you view, links you click, how you arrived at the Site (such as from a TikTok or Instagram post), and whether you opened or clicked our emails.

Information from others:

We may receive information from Shopify and our service providers, and from social media platforms when you interact with our accounts or ads.

2. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Run the waitlist and let you know when your size and colorway are available
  • Communicate with you, including answering your questions
  • Send marketing emails about our launch and RUMOR news and offers. You can unsubscribe anytime.
  • Show you ski resorts near you and their expected opening days, using your approximate location (city or region, estimated from your IP address). We don't collect your precise location.
  • Show you RUMOR ads on other platforms and measure how well our ads and content work
  • Understand how people use the Site so we can improve it and our products
  • Plan production (for example, which sizes and colorways to make)
  • Prevent fraud, keep the Site secure, and comply with the law

3. How we share your information

We share personal information only as described here:

  • Service providers who help us run the business, including:
    • Shopify (our website and hosting)
    • Shopify Email (email marketing)
    • Google Analytics (site analytics)
    • Location and resort-data services that estimate your approximate location from your IP address so we can show nearby resorts
    • Other tools we use for customer service, surveys, or site features
  • Advertising partners, including Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and TikTok. Their pixels on our Site collect information about your visits so we can show you relevant ads and measure results. Under some state laws, including California's, this may count as "sharing" personal information for targeted advertising. See Section 5 for how to opt out.
  • Legal and safety reasons, when required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of RUMOR, our community, or others
  • Business transfers, if RUMOR is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, as part of that transaction
  • With your consent, or at your direction

We do not sell your personal information for money.

4. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to make the Site work, to understand how the Site is used, and for advertising. You can manage cookies through your browser settings and through the cookie banner on our Site. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works.

You can also:

  • Opt out of Google Analytics: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
  • Adjust ad preferences in your Meta and TikTok account settings

5. Your privacy choices

Marketing emails. Unsubscribe anytime using the link at the bottom of any email.

Targeted advertising. You can opt out of the "sharing" of your personal information for targeted advertising by clicking "Your Privacy Choices" at the bottom of our Site. We also honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser sends it, we'll treat it as an opt-out for that browser.

Your rights. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have about you and how we use it
  • Get a copy of it
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your information, including removing you from the waitlist
  • Opt out of targeted advertising or "sharing"
  • Not be treated differently for exercising these rights

To make a request, email legal@rumor-ski.com. We'll need to verify your identity before responding, usually by confirming details linked to your email. You can use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, and we may ask for proof of their authorization. We'll respond within the time required by law. If we deny your request, you may be able to appeal by replying to our response.

6. California residents

We offer the rights in Section 5 to California residents. In the past 12 months, we have collected these categories of personal information:

  • Identifiers (email address, IP address)
  • Commercial information (ski size and colorway preferences)
  • Internet activity (browsing and interaction with the Site and emails)
  • General geolocation

We collect them from the sources in Section 1, use them for the purposes in Section 2, and disclose them to the categories of recipients in Section 3. We "share" identifiers and internet activity with advertising partners for targeted advertising, which you can opt out of as described above. We don't sell personal information, and we don't use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would give you the right to limit its use.

California's "Shine the Light" law lets California residents ask about disclosures to third parties for their direct marketing. We don't disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing.

7. How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy. For example, we keep waitlist information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. After that, we delete or de-identify it.

8. Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information. No system is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we don't knowingly sell or share personal information of anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

10. Where information is processed

We're based in the United States, and our Site is intended for U.S. visitors. Some of our service providers may process information outside the U.S.

11. Changes to this policy

We'll update this Privacy Policy when sales open, and may update it at other times. We'll post the new version here and update the effective date. If we make significant changes, we'll let you know, such as by email or a notice on the Site.
